예로부터 목조건물을 장식하는데 쓰이던 한국 고유의 무늬, 단청의 색채와 모양을 활용하여 한국 전통의 화려한 아름다움을 현대적으로 표현한 작품이다. 행복과 장수, 번영과 명예를 기원하며 전통문양, 민화의 소재로서 활발히 사용되어온 용·학·나비·연꽃 등의 모티프와 함께 옥색·비색·장단색·자색 등 다채로운 한국 전통의 색을 활용하여 화려한 단청의 무늬를 현대적으로 재구성하였다. 끊임없이 배치가 달라지며 아름다운 패턴을 만들어내는 만화경처럼 시시각각 전환되는 장면을 따라 변화하는 화려한 색과 무늬들이 눈을 즐겁게 한다.
It is a work that modernizes the beauty of Korean tradition with the unique patterns of Korea and the colors and shapes of Dancheong, which have been used to decorate wooden buildings since ancient times. With motifs such as dragons, cranes, butterflies and lotus flowers, which have been used as materials for traditional patterns and folk paintings and the Korean traditional colors such as jade, rain, jangdan and purple was modernly reconstructed as the pattern of dancheong. Like a kaleidoscope that constantly changes arrangement and creates beautiful patterns, various colors and shapes that change along the scenes delight the eyes.
